How To Speak In Public And Connect With Your Audience
Most people fear speaking in public.
Even to a small group, which includes friends and family.
But there is an easy way to become great at public speaking.
The secret is simple and there is no magic:
It’s about learning how to tell a story, just like you would to a child.
Like our ancestors did since the dawn of time:
Starting your speech with "Once Upon a Time".
This is how you grab any kid’s attention instantly.
In business, though, you can't start like that :)
But, how?
By sharing a story, a personal one.
The fastest way to make people care about you and what you're saying.
Moreover, it’s one of the best ways to build trust and interest.
Nothing is more boring than listening to someone reading a slide deck, right?
It’s impersonal.
So, the key to effective speaking in public is as simple as this:
Make a personal connection by telling a story, and your audience will be eager to listen to whatever you have to say.
Start by sharing a personal story that shows why the topic matters to you.
For example, tell how it affected you when you got laid off and joined this new company where you found fulfillment, or started your own venture to live life to your full potential.
Stories are about people and their transformation, not things.
For instance, instead of talking about your company’s products or services, talk about the people who made it, their struggles and sacrifices to make things happen, and how it relates to your own life.
As you share these stories, you’ll help your audience connect with your message and become more interested in hearing what you have to offer.
So, next time you give a customer presentation or speak at an event, start your speech with a story. The result will be amazing, I guarantee it!
I hope that helps.

P.S. I’d recommend reading this masterpiece book by Dale Carnegie that will change the way you speak in public forever.
